===== What to do after the installation has completed =====

After your Citadel installation has completed, you might consider these activities:

  * Verify that [[faq:mastering_your_os:ps|all processes are running]]
  * Verify that [[faq:mastering_your_os:net|all network service ports are listening]] so all your client programs are able to talk to Citadel
  * If this is your first email server, you might want to have a look at some [[documentation:mail_terms|generic mail terms]] that are not specific to citadel.
  * point your web browser, such as [[http://firefox.org|Firefox]] or IE, to [[http://127.0.0.1:2000|your WebCit login Page]] (just a guess)
  * log in with the user you've specified as **admin user** during the installation.  (there is a **New User** button to create a new user with the password of your choice)
  * if you chose host-integrated authentication, log in with one of your system users
  * Perform some fine-tuning on your server, such as configuring its name etc. in the Administration menu
  * [[faq:troubleshooting:out_of_lock_entries|fine tune]] the [[faq:systemadmin:how_may_i_improve|database backend]] if you're planning to operate a larger site

  * Consider a strategy for [[faq:spam:start|fighting spam]]
  * get your [[faq:favoriteclient:general_configuring|favorite email client]] talking to citadel (via IMAP for example)

  * You may be planning a service window to [[faq:favoriteclient:migrating_mail_into_citadel|migrate your old mail]] into Citadel
